A. Public Computer Use
1. Library Computers are accessible for use by all library customers for educational, vocational, cultural, research and information purposes only.
2. Access to the computers is available to all authorized library users from when the library opens at 8:00am until 15 minutes (4:45pm) before it closes at 5:00pm. The service is free and no fees should be collected. 3. Library users must bring and present a current and valid ID |
and must always log-in in the registration book at the circulation/staff desk before using any computer workstations. . The patron's name, date, and computer number will be entered into the registration book.
4. Two users at a time are permitted at each computer workstation. However, exception may be granted for families and unusual situations.
5. In order to make the workstations more accessible to users, the library set limitations on the length of time a person can use the workstations. The maximum time limit allowed for every user is 30 minutes per day. The time can be extended only if there are few users and provided that the user asks permission first with the librarian or staff assigned. If a patron is close to finishing a project and needs additional time, the librarian/staff, upon request, can extend the time-slot.
6. Library customers utilizing computer workstations are strictly prohibited to get access, download, save or delete any of the library’s existing file and software programs.
7. Modifying any hardware settings or altering software configurations that may harm computer equipment or software is strictly not allowed.
8. Using the library workstations for any illegal and criminal purposes such as hacking, and identity theft or using library workstations for financial gain or illegal commercial activity is prohibited.
9. Using the library computers in viewing materials that are harmful to minors, when children are present is strictly prohibited.
10. The librarian/library staffs reserves the right to view the monitor at all times and may periodically check the computers during usage.
11. To avoid bringing in any virus, worms, spywares, Trojan horses or other programs that compromise the security and protection of the library’s computers and computer system, all library users are encouraged to use only new USB’s, CD’s, and DVD’s in saving their files.
12. Saving personal files to the library’s computer workstations is not allowed. Library users must save their files in their own diskettes, CD’s or flash disks.
13. CD Burning and scanning of documents or files to CD’s/DVD’s is allowed. CD-ROM’s from the library’s collection can also be viewed at the facility. In addition, patrons who bring their own headphones may connect them to our computers.
14. Printing is available when using the library's computers. Printing of 1 up to maximum of 3 sheets of letter (8.5 x 11) size coupon bond is allowed and free only for San Nicolas residents and students.
15. Computer users are liable for any damage done to the equipment or software.
16. Failure to act in accordance with these policies may result in loss of computer use and library privileges.

B. Public Internet Use
1. Library patrons who wish to use the Internet must be computer literate.
2. All library Internet users must have a library card or any valid Identification Cards.
3. Internet users must sign in at the circulation desk prior to beginning an Internet session.
4. Internet users may access the Internet for a maximum of 30 minutes at a time and will be limited to one visit per user per day. Internet access is available on a first come, first serve basis.
5. Only two library patrons at a time may sit for an Internet session.
6. Changing Internet settings is strictly prohibited.
7. All library patrons using the Internet must respect the rights, dignity, privacy and convenience of others.
8. Library users may use the Internet only for educational research and information. Searching and accessing on the following sites are prohibited:
9. Library users are advised to obey and uphold copyright laws. Users must not use for illegal purposes or make unauthorized copies of copyrighted or licensed software, data or publications on the internet.
10. Library customers are prohibited on accessing Internet sites that is purposely and maliciously offensive, accessing sites that are obscene and harmful to minors or any material involving the sexual abuse of minors, child pornography, or the enticing of children.
11. Minor children, 12 years and under, using the Internet must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their minor children’s use of the Internet at the library.
12. Information in the Internet should be cautiously evaluated for its reliability, accuracy and prevalence. Library staff is available to assist users with their Internet information needs.
13. The librarian/library staffs reserves the right to view the monitor at all times and may periodically check the computers during usage.
14. Any damage, indirect or direct, that may arise from a library patron’s use of Internet is not a responsibility of the library.
15. Customers with overdue materials or unpaid fines will not be permitted to use Internet computers until all materials are returned and/or paid.
16. Library patrons using the Internet must comply with all of the library rules and regulations and library Internet policies. Failure to comply with the requirements of this policy will result in disciplinary action up to and including the loss of Internet or library privileges.

C. Public Wi-fi Use
1. The Library's Wi-Fi signal is available to patrons during all regular hours that the library is in operation.
2. A library patron who may want to use and access the library’s Wireless Internet connection must have a Wi-Fi ready laptop computer or with a wireless card. Laptops with a built-in wireless adapter will automatically detect our wireless internet access, however, the library makes no guarantee that the entire public area will contact a Wi-Fi signal nor will extend to the outside of the buildings.
3. Library users with laptop that has no built-in wireless adapter or those using a wireless card will need to personally install and configure their cards before they can fully access the library’s wireless connection.
4. The library staff will not handle laptops, provides technical support, neither troubleshoot nor assist you in the configuration or installation of your wireless cards from that loss.
5. Wi-Fi Network connection in the library is set to restricted/secured level and users need a network key and password for a full wireless internet access. Patrons may ask the librarian or any library staff in charge for the network key or password.
6. Use of the library's wireless connection is entirely at the risk of the user. The library is not responsible and liable for loss of important and classified information or damages of laptop devices or equipment resulting from using the libraries wireless connection.
7. The Library does not offer virus protection or other security software for Wi-Fi connection. Library patrons accessing the wireless internet are recommended to install current anti-virus software to their laptop computers.
8. Wireless Printing is not available in the library.
9. Library users accessing the wireless internet connection will have to make use of its battery pack as use of electrical outlet to power laptops is strictly prohibited.
10. Patrons who will violate these rules may lose their wi-fi use and library privileges.
