POBLACION EAST
The stature of Poblacion East as a barangay started way back in 1958 under the administration of the late Mun. Mayor Buenaventura Rillorta . Of the four (4) barangays in the town proper, Poblacion East falls within its jurisdiction some important landmarks like the municipal hall and the public plaza, the public market, the San Nicolas Rural Bank and the different churches.
Located also at Barangay Poblacion East is the San Nicolas National High School, formerly known as San Nicolas East Barangay High School (SNEBHS). Founded under the combined efforts of Supervisor Felomina Cabanayan and Brgy. Captain Carlos Gulla and Barangay Council Officials, the San Nicolas Public High School was opened in 1969.
Barangay Poblacion East is home to many of the Municipal Mayors of the municipality. This include Don Jose Cendana, Don Jose J. Desamito, Don Pacifico M. Ylarde, Don Buenaventura Rillorta, Don Buenaventura Serquina and Don Johnico Serquina.
Prominent personalities from the barangay that hold important positions in the government includes Gregorio Cendana, Media Minister and Assemblyman during the term of office of President Ferdinand E. Marcos and Victor Ramos, DENR Secretary during the administration of President Fidel V. Ramos.
Existing records and documents show that the first set of officers of the barangay has its chairman, vice chairman and councilmen. The first set of barangay officials included Mr. Teofilo Songcuan, as chairman; Crispin Anchiboy, Ernesto Magabo, Patrocinio Martinez, Dr. Porfirio Gonzales, Pedro Ortiguero , Bonifacia Serquiña ,members of the barangay council.
