SAN JOSE
According to old folks, early settlers of the place came mostly from the Ilocos provinces and from the western part of Pangasinan. They were lured by the rich fertile soil of the place and the abundant supply of water that could make farming an all year round activity. These early settlers were so industrious and hardworking that they till the land from dawn until dusk. Their hard work, pains and labor were all rewarded at the end of crop season because of the bountiful harvests. In return they offered thanks and prayers to God through the intercession of San Jose – the patron saint of the workers and laborer. These hardworking settlers adopted their patron saint’s name and later named the place San Jose.
The place was then a flourishing agricultural community and a big barrio of the municipality. It was formerly composed of three (3) big sitios namely Siblot Centro and Nining. Much of its lands were taken away along with other parts of San Nicolas when the municipality of Natividad was created and founded in 1902.
With the increase of population in San Jose and the implementation PACD creating barangays in the 60’s Barrio San Jose was converted into three (3) separate and distinct Barangays namely: Barangays San Jose, Nining and Siblot.
Barangay San Jose is bounded on the south by the municipality of Natividad; on the north by Brgy. Siblot; on the east by the Brgy. Nining; and on west by Brgy. San Roque.
